TZ30 by Massena LAB and Raúl Pagès is a limited edition created to celebrate the first 30 years of TimeZone.com. Featuring a hypnotizing blue dial, a 38.5mm stainless steel case, and a proprietary movement designed by Massena LAB and Raúl Pagès, the TZ30 is limited to only 30 pieces.

Its dial is vertically brushed, creating a rich and dynamic texture that plays with the light, revealing a spectrum of blue from deep indigo to vibrant cobalt. Its baton indices are plated crisply with bright rhodium for excellent contrast with the dial. The small dots which line the minute track are also plated in rhodium as are the elegant feuille hands hovering above.

The dial follows an observatory layout—a detail which is sure to be appreciated by longtime TimeZone readers. The TZ30 is signed “Massena,” with small seconds at 9 o’clock complemented by the words “Observatory Precision” at 3 o’clock, creating a balanced and pleasant symmetry.

The M690 is a Swiss-made, manual-winding movement with exemplary hand-finishing, 17 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz), and a power reserve of 60 hours. Designed collaboratively by Massena LAB and Raúl Pagès, the independent watchmaker and recipient of the inaugural Louis Vuitton Watch Prize for Independent Creatives in 2024, the M690 is produced under Pagès’ supervision by a small network of Swiss watchmakers. While he oversees the movement’s creation, Pagès does not execute the production or decoration himself, as he would for his own pieces.

Visible through the sapphire caseback, the M690 showcases a broad plate with Côtes de Genève finishing, along with hand-chamfered plates and bridges. Raúl Pagès’ signature, the poinçon Pagès, appears discreetly beneath the balance wheel in the form of a tortoise—an homage to his celebrated tortoise automaton introduced in 2013. Completing the composition is a field of overlapping perlage encircling the poinçon. In short, the finishing reveals a degree of artistry and skill typically seen in timepieces at several times this price.

The TZ30 is housed in a sleek, stainless steel case inspired by dress watches from the midcentury and measuring 38.5mm in diameter with a thickness of 10mm including its crystal. The watch is fitted with a strap which is handmade in Italy from pebbled calfskin in warm mocha with white stitching with a stainless steel buckle bearing the Massena LAB signature.

TIMEZONE.COM

Founded in 1995 as a small online forum for watch enthusiasts, TimeZone.com quickly grew into one of the largest and most influential horology communities online.

William Massena, an active user since the website's founding, acted as Managing Director of Timezone from 2005 to 2020, working to increase the size and stature of the site.

In 2015, to celebrate the site's 20th anniversary, William worked with Habring² to design the TimeZone 20th Anniversary Habring² Chrono COS, ref. TZ20. A year later, for the website’s 21st anniversary, William Massena and Habring² reunited to create the Habring² xTimeZone Jumping Seconds, ref. TZ21.

The TZ30 by Massena LAB and Raúl Pagès continues this tradition of anniversary editions for the website's 30th anniversary.
